It is fair to say that the presentation on the Cash Vegas slot is simplistic. The backdrop is just a mishmash of neon lights, mainly pink and purple with nothing really discernible to look at. The reels are center stage of course, with the main spin button bottom right and the buttons for changing your stake and looking at the pay table at the top of the screen.
The graphics are colorful and bright and the reel animations smooth. The music that accompanies the game is a kind of electronic, funky tune and in truth it is not too bad at all. It doesn't just loop the same 5 seconds continuously, so it does not really begin to grate after a while.
The look of the slot is very much retro-styled with plenty of retro-symbols on the reels, but the slot also includes some more modern features, such as Scatters, Wild symbols (with a multiplier) and a Free Spins bonus round, combining elements of an older slot, with those from a more modern game.
The vast majority of symbols on the reels are all retro-styled. There are relatively few symbols on the reels and they start with the Bell symbol, followed by the lemon and then the cherry symbol. Wins range from just a very small number of coins, up to 40 coins for five cherries on a pay line.
The middle value symbols are the three different Bar symbols, single, double and treble. Unlike some games, these symbols cannot be used interchangeably with each other to land a win but you must instead land the same bar on the same line. Wins range from 6 coins up to 120 coins.
The highest value symbol is the treble seven. These offer wins from 14 coins up to 777 coins, which is the largest amount you can win in the base game, without hitting a Wild symbol as we will discover below.
The Cash Vegas symbol is the in game Wild and this can appear on any pay line. It does not offer wins itself but can be used with any of the other symbols to create wins. One nice touch is that the Wild offers 2x the standard value on any win that it is part of. You cannot use the Wild as a substitute for any of the Scatter symbols, however.
There are two Scatter symbols on the reels, one which leads to Free Spins and one which does not. We will deal with the latter first.
The single Red Seven Scatter awards prizes when landed in any position on the reel. You win 4x your bet for three scatters, 12x your bet for four and the maximum 40x your bet for landing 5 of these particular Scatters on the reels.
The second Scatter is the Free Spins Scatter which is the star shaped symbol with Free Spins written on it. These can be landed on any of the five reels and offer 7 Free Spins for three scatters, 10 Free Spins for four or 14 Free Spins for the maximum five.
During Free Spins you can land three or more Scatters on the reels once again to re-trigger the bonus, but other than that there are no other enhancements for the player.
Other than the bonus features outlined above, there are no other additional bonus features on the Cash Vegas slot.
A retro slot which is modeled on a more modern game can be a happy fusion of styles and Cash Vegas does achieve that. As higher variance slots go, this is an enjoyable one. The base game is solid enough, but needs to be played at the right bet size for your bankroll to enjoy fully so that it doesn't wipe your balance out. The best feature though is the Wild symbol, as it triggers frequently and I think offers better long term value than either of the bonuses attributed to the two Scatter symbols in the game.
I would have liked to see a slightly higher jackpot prize for a higher variance slot. The total win amount isn't that big for a game of higher variance. I also feel that sometimes the base game does get a little boring and that a randomly triggered feature here, even if it was just something that offered a lower value win on occasion, would have given the game a little extra appeal.
Cash Vegas has proven to be a very popular slot for Saucify and it is always among the most played slots for them every month. This simple mix of retro-styled symbols against the backdrop of a more modern style slot can sometimes be messy, or sometimes can be good.
