Presentation

The presentation of the Juicy Jewels slot is very nicely done. It is certainly simplistic, with a blue backdrop littered with shining beads of light and across the top is what appears to be a large amount of pink icing or similar, and the drips down from this icing is what defines each of the different reels. It's rather cleverly done and the effect is excellent.

Add to this a jaunty soundtrack that unlike most twee slots, actually does not grate on the nerves as you play and you have a slot that may sound somewhat unusual when you read the title but once you load it up, it does immediately grab you and makes you want to play the game.

There are two distinct types of symbols on the reels. Best feature of the Juicy Jewels slot

Without doubt the Sticky Wilds are what makes the Juicy Jewels slot so much fun to play. Usually when a slot does not have a Free Spins bonus or indeed, any other form of bonus game, I would not be that keen to play, but there is no doubting that the way Juicy Jewels has been designed works superbly.

Although this one feature seems to make the slot one dimensional, the fact that it triggers so often on so many spins makes this one of the most player-friendly slots I have played in a while, with some sizeable wins achievable using the bonus, and even if you don't hit big wins, you tend to hit enough to keep your bankroll at a manageable and even level. Admittedly, bigger jackpot hunters won't like the medium variance of this slot, but when it plays nicely, this is a game that is hugely fun to play and very rewarding for the player.

What does the Juicy Jewels slot lack?

Of course, the main thing this slot lacks are bonus features to sit alongside the Juicy Jewels Wild bonus feature, but I wonder if the slot had a Free Spins round or some other similar bonus, would the Wilds trigger quite as often as they do. If they don't, then I don't think the slot would be enhanced by this addition and as such, in this case, I think that less is actually more beneficial to the slot as it means that its key feature is so prominent in the game and rewards players so frequently.

Conclusion

I wasn't expecting a huge amount when I first loaded up the Juicy Jewels slot. I felt the name was somewhat silly and didn't make sense and the cutesy look of the slot is not personally to my taste. However, once I started playing I found myself really enjoying the game. This is a medium variance game as some wins are big and some are very very small, but you always win regularly and the fact that the bonus triggers so often means that you never feel you are too far away from a bigger value win. This is a well thought out and executed slot which hits all the right marks. A perfect example of how a simply designed slot can still be a fantastic game to play.

The graphics won't win any awards for complexity or technological brilliance but they do the job of presenting the slot very nicely indeed.
