The popular perception we have nowadays of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, does seem to stem more from Hollywood's depiction of the star-crossed lovers just caught on the wrong side of the law, than with the actual reality.
The reality is somewhat more gruesome but Bonnie and Clyde were perhaps the first to utilize the press of the day to publicize themselves and their ruthlessness. They were the social media stars of their generation. However it didn't end well as they were ambushed by a posse of law enforcement officials and killed in a hail of bullets.
Like I said, we don't really focus on the real-life stories too much nowadays, more the Hollywood adaptation and it is clear that this what has inspired Red Rake Gaming in their Bonnie and Clyde slot. So let's take a look at how the company has approached the game.
Where can I play the Bonnie and Clyde slot?

It is fair to say that Red Rake Gaming are going to nurture a very positive relationship with slots players if they keep producing slots of the quality of Bonnie and Clyde. In terms of presentation, the slot looks absolutely stunning with photo-quality back drops, superb sound effects and music that fit in with the theme of the slot and smooth, easy to follow animations. I was impressed with the Marco Polo slot I reviewed a little while back and the Bonnie and Clyde slot is every bit as good in terms of presentation.
What's on the reels?
There are nine standard symbols on the reels and the lowest value of these are the four playing card symbols, the diamond, club, spade and heart. These offer wins of up to 3x your total bet if you can land five across the pay line, although the lowest value wins are significantly smaller than your actual bet size.
The medium tier symbols ate the handgun, the stack of cash and the Tommy Gun and these offer prizes ranging from 0.5x your bet up to 6x your bet for five across the reels. The two higher paying standard symbols are the Bank and the Car, these offer wins from 0.6x your bet, up to 10x your bet.
All these symbols can be stacked and can produce wins along multiple lines on a spin.
There is also a Clyde symbol on the reels, which can also be stacked and when it appears you can land wins by landing it across successive lines either from left to right as standard, but also from right to left. Land five Clydes across a pay line and you win the game jackpot of 750 coins.
In addition to these symbols, there is also the Bonnie symbol, which acts as the in game Scatter and also the Wild symbol both of which we will explore in more detail below.
The Wild symbol is very easy to identify as it is simply the word Wild written in the form of a badge or buckle. Also when it appears on the reels, you will hear the sound of a gunshot. It can appear on the middle three reels of the slot and it can substitute for all the symbols on the reels apart from the Bonnie Scatter symbol.
As the Wild does not appear on the first or last reel, there is no pay out for landing Wilds across the reels, which is a bit of a shame.
Free Spins features
The Bonnie Scatter symbol is the key to the Free Spins round and she can appear on any of the five reels in the game. There are two types of Bonnie Scatter symbols, the first is the standard symbol, which just depicts Bonnie holding a gun and the second is the same symbol but this time it will have a number of either +2, +5, +1-, +20 or +50 superimposed over it.
Regardless of which one you land, you need to land three or more of the Bonnie symbols to launch Free Spins, however if you land one of the Bonnie symbols with a number on, then this indicates how many additional Free Spins you will receive on top of the standard number you land.
The standard number of 10 Free Spins for 3 Scatters, 20 Free Spins for Four and 50 Free Spins for five. This means you could potentially earn up to 300 Free Spins in one game, although the actual number you receive tends to be considerably less than this.
Once you have been allocated your Free Spins then your free games will begin and the money you win will be totted up and then added to your cash account at the end of the bonus game.
Other bonus features
Other than the features listed above, there are no additional bonus features on the Bonnie and Clyde slot.
Best feature of the Bonnie and Clyde slot
Without doubt the best feature of the Bonnie and Clyde slot, other than the excellent presentation, is the Free Spins bonus round. It can be somewhat tricky to trigger, yet at other times, you can hit it within a few spins. The value of the pay outs in Free Spins do vary however, so it isn't a guaranteed big win, but even so, you usually win enough so that your session on the slot isn't going to harm your bank balance too much.
What does the Bonnie and Clyde slot lack?
There are two things that I feel would have added to the Bonnie and Clyde slot. The first is an additional bonus feature to sit alongside the Free Spins and Wild bonuses. A randomly triggered base game would have been a nice touch, or even a simple selection game would have given the slot a little more depth. Also, I'd have liked to have seen a few more better value wins in the base game, as the vast majority of wins tend to be lower value and smaller than your initial bet.
There's no doubt that the Bonnie and Clyde slot looks and sounds superb and once again, Red Rake Gaming have hit the nail on the head when it comes to how the slot looks and sounds, but to be honest, I felt that there should have been a little more in the game. The bonuses are very simple, just a Free Spins round, a Wild symbol and a symbol that is stacked and can pay both ways. I'd have liked to have seen a little more content than that to be honest, but what is available to play is good fun. It just doesn't quite offer as much as you would think once you start playing. Despite this, it is still a fun and enjoyable slot to play.
