Games Related to Dragonz
Yet another new release from the gaming gods at Microgaming, this time with one of the most striking and eye-catching slots you will have seen in the history of slot gaming.
The game is called Dragonz, but this is unlike almost any other slot you will have played as it comes with incredible 3D graphics.
What this means is that graphics that were once two dimensional and dare I say, a little boring, are now more vivid than ever, brighter than ever and with greater clarity. The net result is a slot that is the absolute definition of next generation gaming and that is not solely because of how beautiful the game looks, but a lot more besides.
The premise of the Dragonz slot is that you are following the fate of four dragons who are embarking upon an epic quest. As they progress in that quest, they will unlock bonus rounds and base game wins that will allow you to take home a, hopefully decent, cash prize.
The game was announced at the iGaming Super Show earlier this year with Microgaming extremely excited about the development of the new game. So much so that Roger Raatgaver, the CEO of Microgaming stated
"Dragonz...is an innovative game with never-seen before features, insane graphics, loads of wilds and a free spins feature that will make your eyes go pop!"
So let's take a closer look at the slot to see if he was right.
The first thing to note about the slot is that it is a standard 5x3 reel game which instead of having individual paylines boasts 243-ways to win instead and it can be played on desktop, mobile and tablet devices. Each of the five reels is a 3D reel and there is a top jackpot cash prize of 1,000 coins to be won. All this combined with a Return to Player (RTP) of 96.3% means that Dragonz is not just a slot that offers innovation, but also a fair game for the player too.
The reels consist of the usual playing card low symbols which, to be honest, is the only disappointing aspect of this slot. I'd have liked to have seen a few more characters added to the reels relating to the story of the four dragons, or perhaps some of their nemesis' as the low characters but instead we have the usual low symbols from nine through to the Ace.
The higher value symbols on the reels are the four dragons of the story and they all have their own name. Flint, Gobble, Frost and Switch and each is coloured differently too and looks very different to the other.
Of course, you can vary the amount you wish to bet with the lowest possible wager in the game being just 0.40 per spin, although if you are a higher roller you can increase this up to a maximum bet of 30.00 per spin. There is also a handy auto-play feature if you wish to let the reels spin at set number of times in your absence.
What really makes this slot stand out however is the game-play as with the Dragonz slot, the animations and graphics are genuinely outstanding. However, there needs to be more substance to a slot than simply great graphics and sound to make it appeal and fortunately Dragonz doesn't shirk this challenge in any way.
During the base game, if on a spin you do not win then you could trigger the Wild Deal feature when a Wild symbol lands on the third reel. When this is triggered, additional Wild symbols will appear across the other reels to guarantee you a win on that spin. What is great about this feature is that it does trigger frequently on non-winning spins, so you feel the slot is giving you great value for money as you play.
However, what really makes the Dragonz slot stand out is each of the four Free Spins bonus games you can trigger when you hit three or more of the scatter symbols anywhere across the reels. The first dozen times you trigger this feature in a session, you will be randomly assigned to a bonus game, however after you have triggered this 12 times you are then able to select the feature you want to play.
The four bonuses available in the free spins round are named after the dragon.
The Flint dragon is the red coloured beast of the bunch and if you take his bonus you get 10 free spins with Flaming Wilds. These are where Flint will randomly fire Wilds onto the reels using his fiery breath. Each time he fires Wilds on a free spin, the number of Wilds increases with up to 10 wilds possible on a single spin.
The purple coloured dragon is named Switch and for his bonus you also get 10 free spins but this time with Stashed Wilds. The Switch feature stores non-winning Wild symbols from a spin and when three of these have been collected, they are distributed on the reels on the next spin to ensure you hit a winning combination. One pleasing feature of this bonus is that if you have Wilds stored up when your free spins end, you will receive additional free spins until all your stored Wilds have been used up.
Gobble is the green and greediest dragon of the bunch and he comes with 10 free spins and a Winning Wilds feature. This is a modification of the Sticky Wilds feature where the Wilds remain in place on winning spins, only disappearing when they are not part of a winning payline on a free spin.
Finally, Frost is the blue coloured dragon and he comes with the Frosty Wilds feature as well as 10 free spins. In this feature, Frost will appear on the reels to freeze any wilds that do not form part of a winning payline where they will remain in place on subsequent spins until they contribute to a winning payline.
This is a hugely enjoyable slot that has a nice variance to it and allows players to play without draining them of their cash, while still offering a fair chance at a win that could be as much as 3583 times your original stake.
