Games Related to Game of Thrones
Based on the series of books A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, the lavish production, unexpected plot twists and frequently controversial themes have ensured that it has been a ratings winner for the HBO channel.
Microgaming snapped up the rights to produce a slot on the TV show a little while back and it is fair to say that the results have been pretty spectacular and without a shadow of a doubt, the two Game of Thrones mobile slot games, and their online versions, are one of the best slot releases of 2015.
The first thing to note about the slot is that it is actually two slots. You can elect to play a 15-payline game (minimum bet 0.15 with a jackpot of 75,000) or the 243-ways to win game (0.30 minimum stake and a potential jackpot of 121.500),
Other than the differences in the number of paylines, the jackpot and the minimum spin value of each game, the mechanics of the Game of Thrones slot is identical whichever version you play, so the rest of this review will pertain to both versions of the slot.
The first thing to note about the slot is how it looks and sounds. With the stirring music from Game of Thrones as the background music and iconic symbols from the TV show across the reels, it is clear that Microgaming have spent a lot more time on the look of this slot than they have many of their other games.
This extends to the earthy colour scheme used on the slot, the liberal use of action taken directly from the TV series as well as each of the four houses of Westeross Sigils, which serve another purpose in the game (which we will come to later).
The actual game play of the slot itself is very simple thanks chiefly to the design of the symbols. The low symbols are the usual playing card lows (from 10 through to Jack) and the high symbols are the four sigils of each of the four main houses in the story, Targarayen (Black), Baratheon (Yellow) Lannister (Red) and Stark (White).
This makes it very easy to see in the base game when you have achieved a win, or whether you haven't and gives fewer possibilities across the reels when there are more high symbols.
The base game offers relatively regular wins too, so this is a slot that you can play affordably and which won't cost you a huge amount if you don't land a big win as those smaller scale wins do keep on coming on a regular basis.
Another nice feature is that the in game wild symbol, which is easily identifiable as the Game of Thrones logo, is stacked several symbols high across all the reels and as a result, it is possible to hit multiple stacked Wilds on a single spin and radically increase your chances of landing a much larger win as a result.
The other key symbol in the game is the scatter symbol which is easily identifiable as the famous Iron Throne. Two or more of these symbols on screen guarantees a payout, whereas if you land three or more then you will trigger the fantastic Free Spins bonus round.
In the free spins bonus game, you have a choice of deciding which of the four houses of Westeross to serve. Each house offers you a choice of free spins and a multiplier.
Once you have picked your house the free spins will play out with any winnings you achieve subject to the multiplier attached to that house.
However, during free spins, the Sigil of your house is also stacked across the reels, giving you the chance of a bigger win than during the base game.
Whether you elect to play the 15-payline or 243-ways to win slot, Game of Thrones is a hugely enjoyable, immersive slot experience and is certainly one of the games you should load up on your slot from Microgaming to play.
