Games Related to Max Damage
The idea of an attack from beyond Earth has captured the imagination of the public ever since the publication of H.G.Wells seminal book The War of the Worlds back in 1898, the idea of an attack from beyond the stars has provided the inspiration for countless books, films and TV series, some outstandingly good, other's horrifically bad.
Well now there is a fantastic slot game also based on a similar premise, it is called Max Damage and the Alien Attack, although it is also known far and wide simply as the Max Damage slot. Developed by Microgaming, the player takes on the role of intrepid defender of Earth, Max Damage, who is seemingly single-handedly, repelling the alien hoards.
This is the second game in the series, with the original game being one of the few games that attempted to marry arcade gaming action, with a workable slot game. The result was something of a hotch-potch of ideas that didn't quite work despite being a cleverly developed and thought out game. So in this next evolution of the game, Microgaming decided to stick with what they do best and that is produce an all-out slot game.
Max Damage is a 5x3 reel slot which doesn't have any paylines, but instead offers 243 Ways to Win. What this means is that if you can land the same symbol anywhere across the reels from left to right, then you stand a chance of a win. You can increase or decrease the value of your bet by increasing or decreasing the size of the coin you wish to wager and also the number of coins you wish to bet on each spin.
You can choose coin size of 0.01, 0.02 or 0.05 and between one and ten coins per spin, which gives you a maximum bet of 15.00 but a minimum bet of just 0.30 per spin. This means that Max Damage is clearly aimed at medium to lower stakes gamers, with the emphasis perhaps on the many lower stakes slots fans.
You can elect to see your bankroll as either a cash amount, or as in coins calculated based on your bet size by clicking the Coins button, while clicking the Win button will display the top five wins available on the slot. The jackpot is a very appealing 2,400,000 coins, but it is worth remembering that the unit coin stake is relatively small.
The presentation of the slot is excellent with the game set just above the earth. The Reels are transparent and the symbols on them are a mixture of lower value playing card symbols, from 10 through to the Ace, as well as some higher value symbols which include the Earth, a space station, a space ship and of course Max Damage himself is the highest value standard symbol.
There is a Max Damage Wild too which can appear stacked on any reel and when you land five of these across the reels on a single payline, you can trigger a 10,000 coin prize You can also use the Wild symbol to replace any low or high value symbol to help create additional winning paylines on a spin.
The other symbol on the reel to look out for is the Scatter symbol. This is the Green UFO containing one of those pesky invading aliens and when you land two or more across the reels you can win a cash prize ranging from 300 coins for 2 on a reel, up to 15,000 coins when you land five across the reels.
However, triggering three or more of the scatter symbols awards more than just a cash prize. Land three or more and you also receive 15 free spins complete with a 2x multiplier played on all spins. In this round, the massive game jackpot of up to 2,400,000 coins can be won.
Once nice feature is that during Free Spins an Alien Spaceship may suddenly appear on the reel. When this happens, Max will take control with his laser gun and blast the spaceship to oblivion and when he does this, you will receive a cash prize. The prize awarded is random and you can receive several of these rewards, on top of any standard wins, during the free spins bonus round. Furthermore, after Max has blasted the Alien ship, the symbol left behind turns into a Wild symbol and can award an additional payout. The only down side to the free spins game is that you cannot re-trigger the bonus while playing it.
What is immediately apparent with the Max Damage slot is that this is a very easy game to play and understand. The base game is very simple and yet it is effective and enjoyable to play, and although you are paying for 30 lines per spin, the coin amounts are small so you don't really feel like you are taking huge chunks out of your bankroll as you play.
This is important because the majority of wins on the Max Damage slot are not hugely profitable. Indeed a great many wins do not cover the cost of the original bet you make, so it is important to realise this and budget accordingly with your bankroll. As a more medium variance game, this is a slot which tends to award smaller payouts more often but then supplements that with a bigger win, usually when you have hit several Wilds on a base game spin, or if you manage to trigger the Free Spins bonus game, where larger wins are easier to come by.
Max Damage is a nice addition to the franchise and it is definitely more a standard slot game than the original arcade-slot hybrid game that didn't quite work for either type of player. This game still retains elements of that original, especially in the free spins round, but it is now part of a fun, neatly presented and workable slot game that you can play right now!
