What are the perfect ingredients for one of the best slot games you will play this year? How about So Much Sushi? That is because there is so much to like about the fantastic So Much Sushi slot.
The slot is one of three slots released around the same time under the "So Much/So Many" brand. The other games include So Many Monsters and So Much Candy. Each of the game follows the same template in terms of bonuses and other features, though of course, the theme of each slot is very different indeed.
In So Much Sushi, the focus is on the Japanese seafood that not only taste's fantastic, but is also generally very good for you too. And it is no surprise to see some of the most instantly recognisable types of Sushi across the reels.
Let us begin however with the basics of the slot which are that it is your typical 5x3 reel slot offering from Microgaming, which has a total of 25 fixed paylines in play on every spin. You can wager from 0.01 up to 4.00 on each payline, meaning you can bet from as little as 0.25 per spin, up to a maximum bet of 100 per spin.
That's a lovely range of bets and means that both the smaller stakes players, as well as those that like to wager considerably more, will find their needs met by this elegantly designed slot.
Visually, the slot is real treat. The prevailing colour scheme is black and orange and it certainly gives the reels a striking look. The graphics are more in the cartoon style, than the realistic, but once again, that only helps add to the appeal of the game as they are designed quite beautifully.
If there's one small complaint it is that Microgaming have once again deigned to add the Playing Card low symbols to the reel. This is a bit disappointing as it makes So Much Sushi feel a little like most other slots (when it isn't) and given the vast range of different Sushi available, it would have been easy to replace these five symbols with a corresponding Sushi item.
It may only be a cosmetic issue, but it would have added to the appeal of the game considerably in my view. In terms of game-play however, changing the symbols would make little difference.
In addition to the playing card low and sushi high symbols, there are two other symbols on the reels. The So Much Sushi logo which acts as the in game Wild, replacing high and low symbols to create winning paylines and a Bottle of sauce, which acts as the in game scatter.
It all sounds rather mundane thus far, but here's where So Much Sushi starts to show its true value. The first thing to note is the Much More Sushi Bonus. This occurs when you land a winning payline which features any of the five main Sushi symbols. When this happens, each section of Sushi will split creating two, three, four or even five symbols on that single symbol space.
All of the Sushi symbols in the winning payline will split in a similar way, giving you the chance to make a combination win of up to 25 symbols across the five reels. Obviously, the more symbols you land in a winning combination, the greater the size of your win.
Land the white Sushi and you could earn up to 640 times your payline stake.
There's also the obligatory free spins round triggered when you land the bottle of sauce scatter symbol on three or more reels on a single spin. In the free spins section, you are allowed to pick between 8 and 16 free spins. Each option is headed by a piece of Sushi, which when selected, will replace all other types of Sushi on the reels. The lower value type of Sushi will offer you more free spins, higher value, fewer free spins. Pick the right option and get lucky in this section and you can land the in game top prize of 32,000 times your payline stake.
Best of all, you can also re-trigger free spins from within the free spins round by landing three or more scatters once again.
As the name suggests, there is so much to enjoy about the So Much Sushi slot that it is well worth a closer look for any slots fan. The game offers a perfect balance between a traditional 5-reel slot, yet contains enough new features to ensure that even the most feature-hungry slots fan will remain happy.
