If you have never had the fortune to be up close to a Tiger (preferably with a large fence in the way) then it is difficult to appreciate how staggeringly beautiful, majestic and fearsome these animals are.
It's unsurprising then that the Tiger symbol is a recurrent theme in slot gaming and one of the newest games you can play is Tiger's Eye, which is now available to play via mobile.
There's a little confusion over what the title of the slot actually means. Taken literally, it could mean the 'Eye of the Tiger' a phrase used, perhaps most memorably in the film Rocky 3, to mean a lack of fear, braveness and a willingness to fight on.
Alternatively, there is a precious gemstone with the same name which isn't present in the game but which hints that the game could contain riches of its own.
The game was released last year across a wide range of devices and at first glance this looks like your typical 5x3 reel game. The background to the slot is a jungle theme, so verdant green is the overarching theme, but the reels in sharp contrast are decorated with a tiger-stripe framing and brightly coloured symbols which does make them stand out from the background nicely.
Tiger's Eye is a 40 fixed payline game and you can get the reels spinning for as little as 0.40 (for the minimum coin wager) up to a maximum bet of 20.00 coins. This means that this is a mobile slot which is more suited to the low to medium stakes player as higher stakes player may find the small max bet somewhat limiting.
The game itself sees a mixture of high and low symbols across the reels, with a couple of other symbols serving additional purpose in the game which we'll come to later. The low symbols are the now traditional playing card lows (10 through to Ace) and there are five higher value symbols on the reel which includes a monkey, a bird, a peacock, a tiger's paw print and of course, a fearsome tiger.
The top win in the base game (not involving Wilds) is an 800 coin jackpot for five Tiger symbols across a winning payline.
The in game wild is the Tiger's Eye logo, which substitutes for all symbols except the in game scatter symbol. The wild symbol is stacked across all reels and when you land an entire reel wild on a spin, that can trigger some of the bigger wins in the base game, especially if you can land two or more reels stacked with the Tiger's Eye wild.
Five of the Wild symbols across a payline earns you the biggest base game payout of 1000 coins.
The other key symbol on the slot is the in game scatter and this is represented by the golden statue of a tiger. Two scatters anywhere on the reels earns you a small payout, but three or more anywhere across the reels will take you to the free spins round.
In this game you will receive 10 free spins but there is a nice twist to this free spins game which isn't readily available on others. Every time you spin the reels, your multiplier awarded on that spin increases by one. So on your first spin, any win you get will be a 1x multiplier, your second free spin will see a 2x multiplier and so on up to the 10x multiplier for your 10th free spin.
One down side is that you cannot trigger the free spins round again from within it, meaning you get your 10 free spins and that is it, even if you hit a trio of scatters again during the bonus round.
In terms of how Tiger's Eye plays, it is a very easy to play and enjoyable game on a mobile device. The key to a player enjoying the game profitably is striking the free spins round and landing a decent win on one of the later free spins where the increasing multiplier can turn even a modest win into a very nice return indeed.
Tiger's Eye is ready to play now on iOS and Android devices and is well worth spending a bit of cash on, especially if you are a fan of these handsome creatures.
