While there are a number of casinos offering no deposit required free spins, many casinos offer free spins after you have made a deposit.
This is not necessarily a bad thing at all, while the no deposit free spins may appeal initially, the truth is that there are some cracking deals around at the moment for deposit required free spins. If you plan to make a deposit anyway then you might consider deposit required free spins. See bottom of page for links.
However, if you are new to the world of online casinos, free spins and how deposits and bonus cash accounts work, then you may be a little confused about how you access your free spins. You may also not understand the time frame you have to use them and also what earning money in a bonus cash account actually means, compared to your 'real' cash account.
Step 1: Securing your free spins offer
If you have found a free spin offer that you like the look of then what do you need to do in order to gain access to your free spins?
Firstly, you need to download that particular casinos software and install it. Once installed, you then register your details with the casino and then you make a deposit.
It is crucial at this juncture that you read the terms of the free spin offer in question to discover how much you need to deposit in order to gain the free spins. The amount you need to deposit differs from casino to casino but usually requires a deposit of say $50.
So you then need to make a deposit at the minimum level (or more) in order to trigger the free spins offer. With the cash now in your account, you just need to wait a short while for the casino to confirm your award of the free spins. This can take anywhere up to 48 hours, but usually is completed within minutes if not immediately. If the free spins do not appear in the account, contact the chat support and they will add the free spins to your account manually.
Step 2: Using your free spins
Once you have been awarded your free spins you can then load up the game that the free spins are eligible for. Simply start playing the game to use your free spins.
What is important to remember here is that in some casinos, if and when you win on any free spin, the cash is not paid directly to your cash balance, but is instead paid into a 'cash bonus account'. I'll explain what this means in the section below.
The other thing to remember is that many casinos now offer a strict time limit on how long you have the free spins eligible for. You may have to use up your free spins within a week or so of joining, so check the terms and conditions of the offer for any information on this as there's no point paying a deposit to access a free spin offer, then failing to use it within the allotted time.
Step 3: What is a cash bonus account and how is it different to my cash balance?
A 'cash bonus account' is an account used by many online casinos that allows users to receive bonus money, promotional cash and other offers that you cannot withdraw to a personal bank account.
Whereas you can, at any time, withdraw any of the cash in your balance account back to your bank, your bonus account is made up of money awarded by the casino that you cannot (yet!) withdraw.
In terms of free spins offers, what happens if a casino operates the bonus account for winnings on your free spins is that if on any of your free spins you win a set amount of cash, this cash is then added to your bonus account.
Once you have used your free spins, your bonus account will then have some cash in it. While you cannot withdraw this cash, you can opt to use this money on other games at the casino instead of your own cash balance. Once you have 'played through' the money in your bonus account a stated number of times, your winnings with this cash will cease to be placed back into the bonus account and will instead be paid into your cash balance, meaning you can now withdraw it.
So for example: If you join a casino with a 20 deposit required free spins offer and you play through your 20 free spins and win $20 to your bonus account and the casinos terms and conditions state that you must play through your bonus account cash once before it can be withdrawn, you'd need to wager all of the $20 you won on other games on the site.
Any winnings you make from these wagers, would then be credited to your cash balance and you could withdraw that cash, if you choose to do so, at this point.
One final issue to note about your bonus cash is that often any bonus cash in the account will have to be used in wagers within a certain time frame, usually a week or so. If you don't wager this cash on a bet within this time frame, then you could lose the money in your 'cash bonus account'. Note, you will never forfeit money from your own cash balance.
So remember if you do take advantage of a free spin offer and generate yourself some bonus cash, use it or lose it!
