Realtime Gaming, also known as RTG in some circles, is a casino game developer and licensing company with 20 years' experience in the industry.
The company produces a variety of software-based casino titles playable at online casinos hosted around the world. The company tagline is: "We Take Games Seriously."
If you've played slot games like Aladdin's Wishes, Cash Bandits, and Cleopatra's Gold, you should already be familiar with the RTG name. Their game selection is extensive enough that you may have played some of their titles without even knowing who they are. At any rate, Realtime Gaming is a well-recognized name in the online casino world.
Realtime Gaming's history
RTG was founded as a U.S.-based business in 1998. Their headquarters were located in Atlanta, Georgia. Management decided to take advantage of a more friendly environment by moving the company to Costa Rica between 2007 and 2008. At roughly the same time, RTG was acquired by a Dutch company known as Hastings International.
Hastings International's parent company is a financial services company operating under the name HBM Group. It is not clear how much influence the parent company has over Hastings' day-to-day operations, but it is assumed that Hastings still controls game development and licensing at RTG.
Since its establishment, Realtime Gaming has continued to produce a steady stream of games based on the latest technology in both software and online casino gambling. At one point the company developed a game based on Caribbean blackjack. They made the game available to both RTG-exclusive and non-exclusive gambling sites. The game proved to be a history changer for the company in 2004.
Apparently, a player managed to win more than $1 million from the game after wagering a $1,000 deposit. He went on to play the same game at another RTG site where he won an additional $96,000. Realtime Gaming was convinced that the player had used automated software to win. They eventually litigated only to settle with him out of court.
The result of that litigation was a decision by RTG to limit the amount people could bet while playing Caribbean 21. They eventually pulled the game from their inventory but have since remained very sensitive to betting limits.
Realtime Gaming's products
RTG's difficulty with the Caribbean blackjack title is certainly no reflection on their ability to make high-quality casino games. Every casino developer runs into bumps in the road from time to time. The Caribbean blackjack issue notwithstanding, RTG has come up with a number of very strong titles over 20 years of developing. They have also led the way in some areas.

Examples of RTG games
The bulk of this review will probably not mean much to you if you don't know any of the titles RTG has produced over the years. So to help you familiarize yourself with Realtime Gaming, this review includes a few descriptions of some of the more popular RTG titles. If you have already played some of these games, you know just how great they are. If not, the descriptions will hopefully give you a reason to play.
1. European Roulette
RTG's European Roulette title is a software simulation of one of the most popular table games in history. It follows European rules rather than American or French. The game simulates a beautiful roulette wheel made from rich, luxurious wood and featuring gold inlays.
The betting area of the table features both inside and outside wagering areas as you would expect at a European table. However, it also includes the raceway. This is somewhat unusual in that the raceway typically only appears in French roulette games. Be that as it may, it works quite well here.
RTG's European Roulette is easy to play from right the start. It is graphic-based, so there are no menus to work your way through. Just place your chips, spin the wheel, and watch it go.
2. Aladdin's Wishes
Fans of slot games will appreciate RTG's Aladdin's Wishes title. This 5-reel, 20-payline slot game is themed after the legend of Aladdin and his magic lamp. All the symbols are appropriately themed to that story. The background of the game features a desert scene at dusk as the sun is just going down.
The game is easy enough to play with a very straightforward interface. All the information players need to make betting decisions is found above the reels. The controls needed for betting, determining paylines, and spinning are all below the reels. Each payline is also marked for easy reference when spinning produces a win.
If you are a fan of both dinosaurs and progressive jackpots, RTG's Megasaur is for you. This progressive jackpot slot is based on a dinosaur theme. It features playing card symbols as the lower paying symbols and a variety of dinosaurs and prehistoric landscapes as the higher paying symbols.
Megasaur is a 5-reel, 25-payline game with an interesting twist. Where a lot of other slot games offer a button that allows you to place the maximum bet with a single click, Megasaur does just the opposite. You can click a single button to place the minimum bet across the minimum number of paylines.
As for the progressive jackpot, it keeps growing until someone finally wins it. Everyone playing Megasaur contributes to the jackpot with each spin. The current jackpot amount is tracked in a small window just above the reels. You will always know how much it is worth in real time.
4. Enchanted Garden II
RTG has developed several games they refer to as 'series games'. These are slots that are produced around a certain theme and released in numbered editions. Thus, Enchanted Garden II is the second game in the Enchanted Garden series.
Enchanted Garden II is a 5-reel, 25-payline slot game themed around a mysterious garden featuring a young princess as the main character. In her garden she encounters nymphs, magic spells, beautiful flowers, and a whole lot more. The game is very elegantly done with high-quality graphics and exceptional animation. This is one game that you will love simply because it looks so good.
There is also an added feature to this game that you will not find in too many other slots: the ability to stop a spin in progress. After you click the 'Spin' button to get the reels going, you can sit back and relax while the reels stop on their own. However, you can also click the 'Stop' button to stop them immediately. This adds a little bit more to the game.

Realtime Gaming summary
Hopefully you have learned enough from this review to form an appropriate opinion of Realtime Gaming. RTG may not be as recognizable as some of the other game developers out there, but they have built a very strong business and brand over the last 20 years. Their variety of slots and table games offers online casino operators plenty of options for building out their sites.
Note that there are some online casinos that are licensed exclusively by RTG. That means they offer only RTG games. There are others that prefer to license games from multiple developers. These are sites where you might find only the best RTG titles combined with games from other developers.
