Presentation

The Cleopatra's Coins: Treasure of the Nile slot doesn't have standard reels and instead the symbols drop into place across the reels like blocks sliding into position, rather like you would get on a Cascading Reels slot game, only this slot does not have that feature in play. The effect of this is rather nice and it does enhance the Egyptian feel of the slot.

The music is also very nicely done and does give the game a lovely atmosphere to be played in. There are some other nice touches too, like Cleopatra, who stands to the left of the reels, giving a little dance when you land a decent value win in the game. Animations when you land a win are also nicely done.

This is a very nicely done slot that does have some excellent flourishes and touches which hark back to the first Cleopatra's Coins game, but which have certainly improved upon it, as any good sequel slot should.

What's on the reels?

There are a large number of symbols on the reels of this slot, 13 regular symbols in total, plus a Wild symbol and a Scatter symbol, making 15 in total. We will deal with the feature symbols in the sections below, but the main symbols in the slot are as follows.

The lower value symbols are the five hieroglyphics. These offer wins ranging from 3 coins up to 100 coins and these symbols include an eye (or Horus), owl, a staff, two feathers and another bird symbol this time with the sun.

Mid-range value symbols include the King Tutankhamen mask, an Egyptian urn, the god Anubis, a cat, and a blue tile with a picture of a bird on it. These symbols offer wins ranging from 8 coins up to 350 coins.

The three higher value symbols are Cleopatra's face, and the two golden symbols. These offer wins ranging from 20 coins up to 600 coins, which is the top jackpot win you can land across a single pay line in the game.

Wild features

The golden Scarab beetle symbol is the in game Wild and this is the key to the main bonus feature of the slot. When this Wild symbol lands anywhere on the reels, it will remain on the screen as a Sticky Wild and in addition, it will trigger a re-spin of the other reels, if the Wild is part of an initial win on that first spin.

On subsequent re-spins of the reels, if you can add a further Sticky Wild to those already landed, then these two will be held in place and the other reels re-spun once again. Given that there are not that many bonus features on the Cleopatra's Coins: Treasure of the Nile slot, the best feature of the game has to be the Respin bonus that triggers when you land one of the Scarab beetle Wilds. Indeed, this is the only bonus feature, so it isn't up against any competition here, but it is still a very good one that does give the game an extra added edge and which can lead to some of the better value wins in the slot.

What does the Cleopatra's Coins: Treasure of the Nile slot lack?

I think the glaring omission in the Cleopatra's Coins: Treasure of the Nile slot that is absolutely obvious for anyone to see is the lack of a genuine Free Spins bonus game. While the Respin bonus round outlined above can produce some good value wins, and it does trigger relatively frequently, the lack of a Free Spins bonus to aim for can make the game a little repetitive.

Conclusion

There are a lot of things that are good with this Rival Gaming slot. The presentation is excellent and the animations and sounds are first rate. The fact that there are 50 pay lines in play (if you play maximum lines) and the fact that you see the main bonus feature of the slot trigger relatively frequently compared to other games, and that this bonus is activated in the base game, always means you never feel too far away from some of the bigger wins available on the slot. That makes the game play more enjoyable.
• Bonus Features: 13 / 20 - While the Re-Spin bonus feature is the main aspect of the game, and it triggers frequently compared to other games bonus features, the fact that this is the sole bonus of the game does count against it somewhat. In particular, a lack of Free Spins does hit this game somewhat as had it had that, I feel we would be talking about one of the best ever releases from Rival Gaming and one of the best slots you could have played in modern times. Without that though, the slot is a little one dimensional and the small value wins means that it won't have huge appeal to larger jackpot chasers or higher rollers.
• Entertainment Factor: 15 / 20 - Despite the issues I mentioned above regarding the bonus features in the slot, I still found Cleopatra's Coins: Treasure of the Nile a hugely enjoyable slot to play. If you are someone who likes bonuses easy to access, an engaging base game that offers a good mix of wins and more regular wins than a higher variance slot, then this particular game ticks all the right boxes and more.
• Play Value: 14 / 20 - I was torn between whether this Cleopatra's Coins: Treasure of the Nile slot was a medium or a lower variance slot as in the session I played, it fell somewhere between the two, hence the low-medium rating I gave it above. In truth, the smaller your bet the lower the variance for me, as you seemed to win more often.
