Presentation
The setting for the Cool Bananas slot is a cartoon-styled city with the five reels in the foreground and in the background in the city you can make out our rather cheery Hawaiian shirt wearing monkey, holding on to a young lady, while on the right of the screen, two airplanes are swooping in, presumably to try and rescue the lady by bumping off the ape.
It's the classic King Kong scene from the 1930s film, but this time it has been given a more comic book style look and It works well. The backdrop is somewhat simplistic and the slot won't win any awards for graphical innovation but it gets across the theme of the slot well.
The sound is a tad disappointing as in the main all you have are a number of different slot sound effects playing when you hit the spin button. When you land a win, this is followed by a very odd sounding tune that doesn't really bare any relevance to the game. What does the Cool Bananas slot lack?
I have to say that I think the Cool Bananas slot does lack a lot of things in order to make it one of the best modern slots you can play. First off, the fact that it has just a Wild and Free Spins as its bonus means it is operating on the bare minimum for modern slot gamers. The lack of any other features, its rather simplistic game-play, the lack of decent sound or graphics all combine to mean that if you are going to play and love this slot, you are going to have to be a fan of older, more simplistic slot games. I really wanted to like the Cool Bananas slot as I thought it was a good idea for a game, but I think WGS Technology have really disappointed here. The one positive I have is that it is a medium to higher variance game, so you can win some sizeable prizes if you are lucky, but the slot itself is presented in such a basic and simplistic way that you are not going to truly enjoy playing It a great deal in order to trigger those big value wins.
