I loaded up the Realtime Gaming's latest release Secret Jungle slot for a closer look earlier this week and decided to see what this 5x3 reel, 50 selectable pay line, higher variance slot h as to offer.
At first glance a jackpot of 8888 coins doesn't seem that bigger value on a higher variance game, so is this a slot worth putting on your safari suit for and hacking through the overgrown wilderness to see what lies within?
Well we decided to take a closer look to find out for ourselves and what we discovered in the Secret Jungle is outlined below.
If you are looking to play the Secret Jungle slot from Realtime Gaming and want to try it for yourself, but don't know which casino to sign up with to trial the slot, then one you should definitely consider thanks to its great value starter bonus is Sloto'Cash Casino.

The Secret Jungle slot is set, as the name suggests in a rather overgrown jungle with what appears to be some kind of Aztec temple at the heart of it. One nice touch is that the backdrop is dynamic and in addition to will-o-the-wisps floating around, you can also see bright blue butterflies fluttering behind the reels.
The set-up of the slot has the five reels front and center with the main controls at the bottom. The animations are nicely done and polished, with the graphics also high quality. The gentle music that accompanies the game is also very fitting and the slot both looks and sounds excellent.
The slot is a 5x3 reel game and it is pretty standard in set up with a Wild symbol, a Free Spins bonus, triggered using the Scatter and a jackpot prize of 8,888x your bet on a single pay line. There are 50 selectable lines in play, but it is best to play with maximum lines in play, even if your line bet is smaller.
The symbols on the reels include six playing card symbols from the 9 through to the Ace. These are the lower paying of the symbols and they offer wins ranging from 3 coins up to 200 coins. Considering you need to bet 50 coins to get the reels in motion (if you play the maximum number of pay lines), that isn't a huge lower amount.
Alongside those symbols are five higher value symbols and they include the urn, the pile of gold coins, the jaguar, the Aztec warrior wielding a spear and lastly, an Aztec lady. These last two symbols offer the highest standard win in the base game of 1,000 coins and you can win small amounts for landing just two across the reels.
The only other symbols you will find on the reels are the Wild and Scatter symbols and these are linked to the main bonus features of the slot as we will explore in the sections below.
The golden idol is the Wild symbol in the Secret Jungle slot and it can appear on all five reels. It acts as a substitute on the reels for the standard symbols outlined above to help create winning lines and each time that you use a Wild to complete a winning line, you will receive a 3x multiplier on the standard win. Those wins are hugely important when you are playing the slot and looking for some decent value wins in the base game.
In addition, on rare occasions, you can land Wild symbols on a pay line across the reels and if you can do that across all five reels, you will win the base game jackpot of 8,888 coins.
The Aztec Pyramid is the Scatter symbol in the game and it can appear on all five reels too. If you land two Scatter symbols, you will receive 1x your bet back as a cash prize, but if you can land three, four or five of the Scatters then you will trigger the Free Spins bonus round.
Land three Scatters and you will win 8 Free Spins, land four and that increases markedly to 18 Free Spins, but if you can land all five then you will win the maximum 88 Free Spins in the game. In addition, the number of Scatters you land will determine the multiplier you have in play. 3 Scatters will see you have the standard 1x multiplier, but if you land four or five Scatters then the multiplier applied to all wins is 2x the standard amount.
However, you can increase the size of your multiplier and earn additional Free Spins in the bonus round by landing three of the Scatters on any of your bonus spins. Each time you do, you will receive 3 additional Free Spins and the size of the multiplier you receive will increase by one, up to a maximum of 10x the standard amount.
You can re-trigger this bonus a maximum of 8 times in the Free Spins round so what the multiplier is at the start of your Free Spins will determine how high the multiplier can climb.
Other than the features listed above, there are no additional bonus features on the Secret Jungle slot.
It is fair to say that Realtime Gaming haven't really pushed the boundaries of what is possible with the Secret Jungle slot. The game is a pretty standard 5x3 reel slot featuring a Wild and Free Spins bonus round. The Free Spins bonus is the key to the better value wins as that multiplier bonus and those additional spins can be very beneficial to the player. The Wild though should not be underestimated as it can the source of some very valuable wins on this higher variance slot, especially in the base game.
For me the most glaring omission on the Secret Jungle slot is the fact that there are no additional bonus features other than the Wild and the Free Spins bonus. The multiplier factor does liven up both these bonuses, but it would have been more exciting to have had some kind of bonus feature that could be triggered, either by in game matches, or at random, in the base game.
The Secret Jungle is a good example of a solid, enjoyable slot, but which doesn't really offer anything more than that. It is nicely presented, and the bonus features it has are enhanced by the fact that both have a multiplier attached to them that can radically increase the value of the wins. However, I would have liked to have seen something a bit more ambitious in the base game in particular to keep players interested when those Free Spins bonus rounds are proving to be somewhat difficult to hit.
Good Luck!
