Presentation
The presentation of the Dragon Kings slot is somewhat typical of most eastern Asian themed slots. The predominant colors are red and gold and in keeping with the fantastical theme, the backdrop shows raging seas and a far off temple atop a craggy mountaintop. Part of the reason for that is the soundtrack which cannot really make its mind up as to what it wants to be. It is part oriental sounding, but also part heavy metal, grunge rocker. What's on the reels?
On the reels are a relatively small number of standard symbols, but that is because the Dragon Kings slot does feature a higher proportion of bonus and feature symbols than other games. There are four lower value symbols, which disappointingly, are the playing card symbols jack through to the ace and these offer generally lower value wins, with many of the three and four symbol wins not offering you as much as you have originally bet should you land them.
Higher value symbols come in the form of four Asian themed symbols and include the coin, a Koi Carp and a jade figurine. Free Spins features
The Free Spins feature is activated by landing three or more of the Dragon Pearl Scatter symbols anywhere across the five reels. Land three and you win six spins, land four and that increases to 10 spins and with all five landed you get 15 spins.
However, if on the same spin you can land the Magical Dragon Pearl symbol on the sixth reel, then you will double the number of Free Spins that you win. Furthermore, if you land more Dragon Pearl Scatters during free spins, then you can win additional free spins at the same rate.
During Free Spins, the reels don't change a great deal and in truth it is a similar set of reels to the base game, but you do tend to trigger bigger value wins more often.
One nice touch, which is an addition to the recent release of the game, is the option to buy Free Spins for 44x your standard bet. Click this option and the next spin automatically lands the five Dragon Pearl scatters together with the Magical Dragon Pearl on the sixth reel to trigger 30 Free Spins.
The gamble here is that you need to win at least the amount that you paid to trigger your Free Spins bonus, in order to make any profit on the bonus round. Sometimes you will find you can make a big profit, but other times your Free Spins will play through and you will make a loss. Other bonus features
We have already mentioned that there are four other dragons in the game, one each on the first, second, fourth and fifth reels and we have already outlined how the more of these you land with the King Dragon Wild and the Magical Dragon Pearl symbol, the bigger the progressive prize you can win.

I like the presentation of the Dragon Kings slot and I also really like the Free Spins bonus game and how it is triggered, however the option to trigger Free Spins whenever you want is a real winner for me and add to that the different Dragon Bonuses, plus four different progressive jackpots to chase, all of which can be won in a somewhat unusual way, and I think these are the features that will draw players into playing this slot time and time again.
What does the Dragon Kings slot lack?
The one thing I would have liked to see on this slot would have been more pay lines. As it stands, this is a medium to high volatility slot and the more you play for, then the greater that volatility tends to be in play. I think a few more winning lines would have made this a medium to lower variance game and I think that would have hit the mark perfectly as at the moment, you do have to work for your wins, especially the sizeable ones.
Conclusion
This recent release adds the option to play Free Spins at any time to the original game and it is a very wise move. This feature alone is a great addition to the slot and means that this is a game that can be enjoyed by all players with a wide range of bets available.
