Presentation

I have to give credit to the game developers here for producing a very imaginative slot. The backing music is a nice electronic rock fusion song which works well for giving the slot a tempo but It is how the slot is displayed which really earns the credit.

Instead of five reels, what you have on screen is a car on a road with a night sky above it. With flames spewing from the exhaust, the five reels are the cars wheels and they spin from bottom to top, as the car races along the road on each spin. It's a simple but effective way of presenting the reels and it works superbly well and fits the theme of the slot perfectly.

The backdrop of the slot of the road and sky works well enough but there perhaps could have been a little more made of this, perhaps by the car moving past buildings and people, or other cars as unfortunately at the moment, every spin is the same with nothing to view outside the reels.

What is on the reels?

There are a mix of "Royal" symbols and Higher Value symbols on the reels. The "Royal" symbols are the playing card low symbols from 10 through to Ace. Although Free Spins rounds tend to be the better option when it comes to bonus games, I actually feel the Bonus Game is the best feature of the Fast & Sexy slot, alongside its presentation. The Free Spins are somewhat hit and miss and wins can vary in that round, but in the Bonus game, your three super car selections can lead to some decent multiplier wins of up to 300x your stake and I found this bonus tended to offer more consistent value than the Free Spins bonus. However both are somewhat difficult to trigger at times.

What does the Fast & Sexy slot lack?

The key thing that the Fast & Sexy slot lacks for me is excitement. A jackpot of 300x your total stake isn't massive nowadays (assuming you play for medium to lower stakes) but it's the repetitive game-play and the fact that there are no other features other than the Free Spins and Bonus Game to aim for. The lack of randomly triggered bonuses or anything similar to this does really diminish the overall impact of the game and the game, sadly, loses its appeal rather quickly as a result.

Conclusion

Fast & Sexy is a very neatly crafted slot with carefully thought out presentation which makes it immediately eye-catching. It's clearly aimed at fans of the Fast and Furious series of films and games but in truth it lacks the depth to really capture the imagination and unfortunately, the game-play is a little slow and predictable at times. In one respect, it is very simplistic as the backdrop is simply a road and Sky, but the way the reels have been adapted into the wheels of a car is ingenious and fits the theme of the slot perfectly. Add to that the fiery exhaust ports, a suitably fast-paced musical backdrop and futuristic sound effects and you have a slot which has been presented imaginatively and creatively and which certainly grabs your attention.
• Game-Play: 13 / 20 - Once you have got past how the slot looks and the spins get under way then this is where things start to look a little less impressive. The game-play is somewhat uninspiring despite the promising looks. There's no random base games to trigger which means that you are spinning for bigger value wins (which don't happen often) or the bonus features (which don't trigger easily) and as a result, the game-play doesn't really excite you especially in the base game, although things do improve when you trigger one of the bonus features.
• Bonus features: 12 / 20 - There are two bonus features on the slot, a Pick'em bonus game where you could win the jackpot of 300x your line bet, and a free spins bonus game. Both are triggered from within the base game but both can be very difficult to hit, which impacts their score here. Once activated, both can offer decent rewards to players but they need to on a base game which is a more medium to higher variance offering. Both bonus features are fine, but they are hardly ground-breaking in what they offer.
• Entertainment factor: 12 / 20 - I had really high hopes for this slot to be entertaining and at first it really is, given how the game looks and how it has been designed. However this novelty soon wears off and it doesn't take long to realize that you are in for a long haul to trigger the bonus features. The base game itself is OK, but lacks any additional bonuses to lift the game and in truth, it lacks the adrenaline-fueled excitement that it is supposedly meant to portray when you look at how the game is presented.
• Play value: 7 / 20 - There are two things that hit the play value of the Fast & Sexy slot, the first is that it is a medium to high variance game. There's nothing wrong with this of course, but what doesn't help the play value is that the size of the wins in the base game (and occasionally in the bonus features) are often small and many times do not cover your initial bet, meaning even if you win, then you still lose money. That can see your bank balance dwindle fast. Bonus game pay outs can also be on the small side at times and that can be frustrating, especially when you have waited so long to trigger them.
• Overall 62 / 100 - The Fast & Sexy slot may be about fast cars and sexy ladies but the game itself is more medium-paced. The presentation is excellent and very imaginatively done, but the rest of the slot just doesn't quite live up to that. There isn't enough excitement in the base game, or in the bonus features to get your heart pumping and adrenaline coursing through your veins. It's a decent medium to higher variance slot and good fun to play for a while, but whether it has that longer term appeal that the truly great slots have, I am not too sure.
