A "cash cow" in usual parlance tends to mean an individual or a business that you can use, not always in a positive way, to derive money from repeatedly. However, in the new WGS Technology slot, they have taken a far more amusing and cheerier approach by inventing a cash cow that is somewhat cheery and which lives on a farm.
Farmer Jed is in control of things on the farm with his daughter Daisy and she has a Boyfriend, who I'm guessing the fleshy-faced Jed isn't likely to be too enamored of. The slot comes with a number of different bonus games which certainly add a good deal of depth and excitement to each spin.
You can wager from one coin per line up to three per line and you can also select between 1 and 50 pay lines, as well as increasing the coin value from $0.01 up to $5.00. That gives you a massive bet range and means that the slot is perfect for smaller stakes players right up to higher rollers. The graphics in particular are eye catching and the animations also neatly done in what is an unusual game to say the least.
Let's now take a look at how all these different elements combine into a single workable slot and we'll begin by taking a quick look at the key features of the game.

Presentation
The five reels are presented in the format of what appears to be a large barn on the farm and outside the barn are an assortment of various farm items. The main controls of the slot are on the right-hand side of the reels with Auto Play, Spin and Bet Max buttons available depending on which you want to use to play the game.
The View Pays button brings up all the details of the slot and its bonus games and it is worthwhile having a read through this before you play to familiarize yourself with the bonus features in particular as there are many in this game and all are triggered in different ways. The Lines and Coins selector buttons are at the foot of the screen to help you control the size of your bet.
The graphics and sound are decent although the music, it has to be said, did drive me crazy after a short while and had me reaching for the mute button. However, the animations on the symbols when a win is landed are a nice touch.
What is on the reels?
There is a total of eight standard symbols on the reels and five of these are the lower value symbols, which are the playing card lows from 10 through to Ace. These symbols offer pay outs of between 5 coins and 200 coins depending on how many you land on a pay line.
There are three higher value symbols on the reels too, they are (in order of value in ascending order), The Boyfriend (20 coins to 350 coins), Daisy the Daughter (25 coins to 500 coins) and Jed the Farmer (40 coins to 1,000 coins).
Alongside these standard symbols there a small number of other symbols, the Wild and the Scatter being two and each of these relates to the different bonuses available on the game as we will explore in more detail below.
Wild features
The main Wild symbol in the game is the scarecrow which is a standard Wild symbol in that it can substitute for higher and lower value symbols in the game to create additional pay lines. You can also win by landing successive Wilds across the reels and indeed, this is how you can land the biggest jackpot in the game during Free Spins.
Alongside the standard Wild symbol there is also a special Re-Spin Wild available on the reels. These are the three pigs in a basket symbol and this operates as a standard wild when landed on the reels, apart from when you land this symbol stacked on Reel 2 as when you do, you will receive a free re-spin with the Wilds held in place, offering you the chance of another win.
Free Spins features
Perhaps the most unusual feature of the slot is the Free Spins round. Unlike most other games with free spins, you do not trigger the bonus by landing a preset series of symbols. Instead in the Cash Cow slot you are randomly awarded 10 free spins at any point in the game.
When this occurs, the reel set changes slightly and there are fewer symbols on the reels (the three lowest paying symbols are removed) and the relative values of each win increases by double the amount in the base game, thus giving you a shot at the 4,000-coin jackpot if you can land five of the Scarecrow Wilds across the reels.
During free spins, some of the other bonus features in the Cash Cow slot are disabled and cannot be accessed from the round. You also cannot re-trigger free spins from within the bonus.
Other bonus features
One of the best features of the Cash Cow slot is that it consists of many other bonus features in addition to the ones outlined above.
The Harvest Moon Super Scatter offers a pay out of between 1x your total bet and 1000x your total bet if you can land between three and eight of these symbols anywhere across the reels.
There is also a Bonus symbol which is a milk carton with a red Cash Cow label on it. Land three of these across the reels on the first, third and fifth reels on a single spin and you launch a Pick'Em bonus game where you get to choose up to four milk jugs, each of which will contain a cash prize. You can win up to 2,000 coins in this bonus.
There is also the Cash Cow scatter symbol on the reels and this is linked to the Cash Cow Random Prize shown at the top of the reels. Land 2, 3 or 4 of the Cash Cow Scatters and you win 1%, 10% or 100% of the Cash Cow random prize shown, up to a massive 12,500 coins is available to be won in this bonus.
Lastly, there is the Kooky Chicken feature which is an instant win bonus when you land the Kooky Chicken symbol on the middle reel. When you do you will receive a random instant cash prize of up to 600 coins.
Best feature of the Cash Cow slot
With so many different bonuses and features to pick from, singling out which is the best one on the Cash Cow slot is a little difficult. The Free Spins bonus being randomly triggered sounds like a great idea, but it can be difficult to hit and doesn't seem to land as often as a game where the bonus is triggered by landing scatter symbols. As such, I'm not quite sure that this bonus works as well as in other games.
The best feature I think therefore is the sheer number of bonuses available. There are so many that triggering one is always possible on any spin. The fact that there are some instant win games available also adds a great deal to the slot as you can win some decent amounts on these bonuses regardless of what you land across the reels.
What does the Cash Cow slot lack?
In terms of features and bonus games, I don't think the Cash Cow slot lacks anything at all. Where it does lack a little for me is in engagement. The idea of a Cash Cow is particularly relevant to slot gaming, but I think that the Cash Cow is somewhat underused in the game and doesn't feature as prevalently as it should. The slot as a result is a little aimless and more about a farm, than this mythical Cash Cow creature and I think that makes it a little less enticing as a result.
Conclusion
Cash Cow is an interesting slot that is absolutely jam-packed full of bonus features to trigger and this does make every spin more exciting as one or more bonuses are always available to be triggered, even if one has just recently been played through. The base game works well enough but it is in the bonus features that the slot comes alive. I just feel that the eponymous Cash Cow doesn't feature quite as often in the slot as perhaps it should, especially with it being the title of the game. That said, this is a fun slot to play, although as I stated at the start of the review, the music personally wasn't to my taste and had me reaching for the mute button in double-quick time.
