Presentation
The presentation of the Magic Mushroom slot is a bit hit and miss to be honest. The negative thing for me is the sound, or rather the lack of it when the reels are not spinning. Sitting in silence does not make the slot very enticing to play for a player. However, when you get the reels spinning the sound does kick in and it is very good when it does.
The graphics though are excellent, and the game looks very nice with some lovely purple, blue and green hues along with fireflies buzzing around the reels creating a very nice magical glad backdrop. This backdrop is further enhanced by the symbols on the reels, which have been well-chosen to fit in with the theme of the slot.
What's on the reels?
There are ten symbols in total on the reels which includes the Magic Mushroom Wild which only appears on the middle reel. The other nine are the standard symbols and it is nice to report that there is not a playing card symbol in sight on the reels.
Instead, what you have are a cotton bobbin and a lute as the lowest value symbols, with a book and candle as the second lowest paying symbols. The remaining symbols are higher value and they are five different types of fairies, each a different color. The lowest of these are the red and green fairies, followed by the purple, the yellow and the highest paying is the blue fairy.
Wild features
The Magic Mushroom itself is the in game Wild symbol and it appears on the middle reel only. The symbol is stacked though so you can land it singly as a double, or better still as a treble, when it will trigger the Re-spin Feature as outlined in the section below.
The Wild is only used as a substitute symbol in the game.

Other bonus features
The only bonus feature on the slot is the Re-spins Feature, which triggers when you land the Mushroom Wild, in full, on the middle reel. When you do, you will receive any payouts from your original spin and then the re-spin will begin.
For the re-spin, one of the symbols on the first and third reels will be kept on the reels and the others will be deleted and replaced with spaces. There's no doubt that the re-spin feature is meant to be the most pleasing aspect of this slot game but I actually feel that is rather disappointing. A single re-spin with lots of spaces on the reels doesn't actually translate into a great chance of a big win. I'd have liked to have seen more re-spins in the bonus to tell the truth. For me the real winner of the slot is the 27 Ways to Win across the reels, which makes the base game all the more accessible and in truth, more enjoyable than the bonus feature.
What does the Magic Mushroom slot lack?
I think the most obvious thing that the Magic Mushroom slot lacks is a decent Free Spins bonus round, but in truth they are not that common on three-reel slot games. It does lack a bit of atmosphere though as the sounds only play when you spin the reels and the effects are somewhat basic. That's a shame as visually the slot looks very nice and the different symbols on the reel, and the wooded backdrop of the slot, are very nicely done.
Conclusion
Magic Mushroom is certainly an unusual three-reel slot. It isn't your typical 3-reel retro styled game as it has lots of modern elements, that you would normally come to expect to see on a 5-reel video slot. I am not sure the re-spin bonus is a great idea, especially with just one re-spin of the reels, but the 27 Ways to Win works superbly well in the base game and it is this, along with the Wild on the reels, that will keep you coming back to try the power of the Magic Mushroom slot time and time again.
