We are heading into a fantastical realm in this exciting slot from Pragmatic Play. The Dragon Kingdom is awash with these fabled beasts, with at least three known and all is overseen by a very glamorous Dragon princess, with a swathe of red hair cascading down her shoulders.
This 5-reel slot has 25 non-selectable lines in play and spins can start at just 0.25 but be increased up to 125.00 per spin. The jackpot on the slot, for a screen full of Wild symbols, is 10,000 coins. All symbols on the reels are stacked and this can lead to some high value wins, although hitting them can be tough so be warned, Dragon Kingdom is never going to be easy pickings for any slots adventurer.
With a Stacked Wild in the base game and the option to pick one of five symbols to be Super-Stacked in the Free Spins bonus round (complete with a 1x to 5x multiplier on all wins in your bonus depending on the symbol you select), this is a slot which promises a lot. So the question is, does it deliver on that promise?
Let's take a closer look and find out.

Presentation
The Dragon Kingdom slot bounces onto screen and looks fantastic initially and the musical accompaniment is very dramatic, with plenty of percussion and foreboding tones. The graphics are very nicely done and some of the drawings used in the slot, especially for when you land Stacked Symbols together, is excellent, as are the animations used to bring them to life. However, when you land a win, the payout noise you get just detracts away from the game. It's a tinny, tinkling noise that just does not fit in with the tone of the game and sounds entirely out of place.
What's on the reels?
There are eight standard symbols on the reels in the base game of the Dragon Kingdom slot. All the symbols are stacked on the reels and this is important to note as the single pay line win value is only very small, but you are likely to win across multiple pay lines playing the game, which does increase the total value of your win considerably.
The lower value symbols are the four playing card symbols, from the jack through to the ace and these only offer very small value wins even for five across a pay line. There's better value from the higher value symbols, the blue, green and orange dragon plus the red-haired dragon princess.
However, the individual pay line wins for these symbols is much smaller than on other slots which makes hitting them across multiple pay lines with those stacked symbols a necessity if you are going to try and make a profit in any session when playing the Dragon Kingdom slot.
Wild features
The Dragon Kingdom logo is the Wild symbol on the slot and like the base game symbols, it too is stacked on the reels and can turn an entire reel Wild on any spin. The Wild acts as a substitute for the other higher and lower rated symbols to help land additional wins, as well as offering a payout for Wild symbols being landed in sequence across the reels.
Free Spins features
The Scatter symbol in the Dragon Kingdom slot is the portal symbol and you need to land three or more of these symbols anywhere across the reels to trigger the Free Spins bonus game.
For your Free Spins you have a choice of five options. You can pick any of the higher value symbols, the Wild, the Dragon Princess, or the Orange, Green or Blue dragons to be Super Stacked on the reels for your five spins. There is a multiplier attached for each selection, starting with 1x if you select the most valuable symbol (Wild), up to 5x for the blue dragon.
Once you have made your selection your five Free Spins will start and if you are fortunate enough to hit three more Scatters in your Free Spins then you will trigger additional three Free Spins and there is no limit on how many additional spins you can trigger.
Other bonus features
Other than the bonus features listed above, there are no additional bonuses on the Dragon Kingdom slot.
Best feature of the Dragon Kingdom slot
It can take a good while to trigger but the selection of five different Free Spins bonus games is a nice touch and does add to the game a great deal. The fact that you have a selection of games to play is always a good thing, even though I feel the 1x multiplier with Super Stacked Wilds tends to offer the less volatile option of the five available. The slot also offers some nice graphics and some of the sound effects are excellent (though others less so!).
What does the Dragon Kingdom slot lack?
I think the one thing lacking from the Dragon Kingdom slot which would have increased its appeal a great deal is a base game bonus that is a randomly triggered feature. That would have made the base game more enjoyable and offered the player another way to win. I'd have liked to see some better value wins too in the base game as many are only very small wins, although these can be won across multiple pay lines thanks to the Stacked Symbols.
Conclusion
The Dragon Kingdom slot is a bit of a frustrating one. There are some aspects of it which are very good indeed, namely the Stacked Symbols and the fact that you can land some good value wins by combining pay line wins together. However it has a few niggles too, which detract away from how enjoyable the game is as a whole. Free Spins are a bit too tough to hit but well worth it when you can trigger them. A base game bonus, one that is randomly triggered, would have been a nice addition and added a bit of value to the slot but as it stands this is a decent, but not great game.
