The Parrots from Rival Gaming's Party Parrot slot look rather avuncular and cheerful and I am sure they are unlikely to give your fingers a brutal nibble.
In fact, these partying avian creatures of all shapes and sizes could be the key to landing a rather sizeable slot win. Let's take a look and find out how.

The first word that leaps to mind when you look at the presentation of the Party Parrot slot is "colorful". Set against the backdrop of a cartoon-styled verdant forest, each of the five reels are bedecked either side by balloons which mark out the 25 different and selectable lines (though we fully recommend playing all each spin if you can afford to).
Playing as you spin is a rather cheerful, Caribbean-sounding musical accompaniment which is very cheerful and matches the party feel of the slot. The sound of the kettle drums will have you thinking of sipping your rum on a golden-sanded beach in no time at all.
The main controls of the slot are all at the foot of the screen and include a line selector and coin selector alongside the usual Auto Play option and the Spin button. Coins range from 0.01 up to 0.25 per coin and you can wager up to 10 per line, which gives you scope to bet exactly how much you want on each spin.
The little animations that play when you spin the reels and land a winning line or Wild symbol all add to the party theme, as do the rather comical sound effects that accompany them. It's a very nice touch and does add a little fun to the slot.
What's on the reels?
On the reels there is a rather sizeable collection of symbols. The lower value symbols are the standard playing card low symbols. There are five of these from the 10 through to the Ace and you can win between 2 coins and 125 coins depending on the symbol landed and whether you hit 3, 4 or 5 on a winning line.
Alongside this are seven partying animals that are the medium and higher value symbols. These range from (in order of value) a pink flamingo, a stork, a pelican, a green parrot, a penguin (who I can only assume is on holiday), a cockatoo and lastly a brightly colored red parrot.
The symbols offer a wide scope of wins ranging from 15 coins up to 750 coins. All wins must see three or more symbols on a line to be triggered.
There are two other symbols on the reels, the Wild and the Scatter and we will explore more about these features below.
The Wild symbol is the yellow and blue parrot with the green head and shoulder feathers. When this appears on the reel it is a Directional Expanding Wild and you will see a parrot float up the screen holding some helium balloons. These will explode and the Wild will then expand either upwards or downwards on the reels at random.
The Expanding Wild can cover one or both adjacent spaces on the reel, depending on where the Wild symbol landed and the direction the bird flies in from (either the top or bottom of the screen).
You can only land the Wild symbol on the second and fourth reels in the base game and it can trigger additional wins by substituting for all symbols apart from the Scatter. This is a bonus which can lead to some nice wins in the base game, especially if you are fortunate enough to trigger Wilds on both the second and fourth reels at the same time.
Free Spins features
The Free Spins bonus round is triggered when you land three or more of the Egg symbols (which are rather cutely adorned with a party hat) on a single spin. Three of these symbols earns you five Free Spins, four will get you ten while landing the maximum five across the reels will trigger the most Free Spins at 20.
When Free Spins are triggered you also get an additional Wild feature on the reels and this is the Sticky Wilds parrot, which is a predominantly red bird with blue wing tips and yellow shoulder feathers.
If you land a Sticky Wild during your Free Spins then it will remain on the reel and trigger a re-spin whenever they are part of a win. A re-spin does not count as one of your Free Spins, which means that if you can land Sticky Wilds frequently and then re-trigger several wins with these bonuses, you can earn a lot more free turns (and some very large cash prizes).
Other bonus features
Other than the bonus features outlined above, there are no additional bonus features on the Party Parrot slot.
Best feature of the Party Parrot slot
There's a rather cheery atmosphere to the Party Parrot slot and it is one of those games that you can't help enjoy when you play. The musical accompaniment is good fun and will have you tapping your foot in time with the spins on screen. In terms of the best feature though, I think the Directional Expanding Wilds are key in the slot. With no other base game bonuses, these are often the source of the better value wins in the base game and you need these to keep your bankroll topped up on what is a medium variance slot. The fact that this bonus also triggers relatively frequently and can land some sizeable wins also means its importance should not be overlooked.
What does the Party Parrot slot lack?
For me, I felt that the Party Parrot lacked a couple of smaller features that would have tweaked the game to be even more player-friendly. Firstly I would have liked to have seen some multipliers used in the game, perhaps on some of the Directional Expanding Wild wins in the base game as some of these can be rather small. I'd have also liked to have seen one more bonus feature available, perhaps a Pick'em game, or similar, which could be triggered at random in the base game. This would have made the base game a little more exciting as it can be something of a chore to spin the reels to try and unlock the Free Spins at times.
Party Parrot is a fun, medium-variance slot that is bright, cheerful and enjoyable to play. It has a couple of excellent bonus features, particularly the Directional Expanding Wilds, which can be a real godsend in the base game when things are otherwise a bit quiet. The Free Spins round is somewhat tricky to trigger at times, but when you do it can be very rewarding, especially if you can land several of the Sticky Wilds on the reels during your re-spins. This is a fun game to play, but it is not ideally suited to lower variance fans and it is much better played with all 25-lines in play on each spin.
